Mini-Reviews #1

Hey guys. So I assume these books are popular. Everyone talks about Song of Achilles and I’m glad to say I joined the ‘read’ group.

SONG OF ACHILLES by Madeline Miller

I was in it for the promise of gayness.

It did not fail to deliver but I felt Patroclus was the only sane one. Achilles was childish. Pyrrhus was a jerk. Thetis a very annoying mum.

It was fast and I practically completed in two sittings. The thing was the tone got a little monotonous in between and the start was not very catchy. But it has some beautiful quotes.

“In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun.”

THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO by Taylor Reid

The cover is so gorgeous, people. It would look so good on my tiny bookshelf 😍

Anyways, I was sure I would hate it. I don’t have much interest in films, much less Hollywood stars of 1950s. The synopsis was not that special. I read my friends’ reviews going ‘so beautiful’ to ‘very emotional.’ By the way, I dislike depressing books. It beats the point of escaping the anxiety through books.

Now I’m gonna repeat what the other reviews said: I LOVED IT. I admittedly cried. Just one time. I did not find a review lowered below 3.5 stars and I had to search for one. Just go read it even you are the self-proclaimed critical fantasy reader whose average rating is 3.7 stars.

Everybody will love this.

“Don’t ignore half of me so you can fit me into a box. Don’t do that.”

TSHOEH, Taylor Reid

I think this is how you do mini-reviews. That is the end! Have a great day :))
